Alabama are a country and Southern rock band from, you guessed it, Alabama. Formed in 1969 by Randy Owen and his cousin Teddy Gentry, soon joined by their other cousin Jeff Cook, they began touring the Southeast bar circuit and writing songs in the early 1970s under the name Wildcountry.
They changed their name to Alabama in 1977 and following the chart success of two singles, were approached by RCA Records for a deal. Over their four decade long career, Alabama released more than 20 albums, with their debut 'Wild Country' landing in 1976, and their latest being 'Southern Drawl' in 2015. Over the years they amassed over 40 number one singles, 12 top 10 albums, and were credited with widening the audience of country music. Alabama tour around the US in 2019.
