Foo Fighters - Stereoboard Tour of The Week (Feature)

One year on from the Them Crooked Vultures album and, with no sign of a follow-up in sight, the three supergroup members are getting back to their usual routines. Following the performances by Queens of the Stone Age at Reading and Leeds this summer, Dave Grohl is seemingly following his occasional bandmate’s lead and re-joining his main group as frontman. The few months spent at the back of the stage have obviously taken their toll and now he is taking up his guitar to reclaim his rightful place at the microphone.
Yes, that’s right… Foo Fighters are back!
The band are set to play two dates at Milton Keynes Bowl next July with support from Biffy Clyro, Jimmy Eat World and Death Cab for Cutie among others. The shows will no doubt feature some brand new material from the forthcoming Foo Fighters album, which Grohl and co. are currently working on.
Anyone who has been listening out for recent Foo Fighters album news will already be aware that their newest release is likely to be one of their most exciting. Dave Grohl recently announced that the band’s seventh album will be their heaviest yet and a number of Nirvana links have already begun creeping out of the woodwork. Grohl’s former bandmate Krist Novoselic has apparently made some contributions to the album and Butch Vig, the producer of Nirvana’s classic ‘Nevermind’, has been brought in to work on the new Foo Fighters album as well. This news follows the previous confirmation that guitarist Pat Smear, who was a member of Nirvana for a brief period, has returned to the Foo Fighters’ line-up following his departure from the band in 1997.
So, with all of this information buzzing around and with more dates likely to be added to the tour, there is very little reason not to be excited about Dave Grohl’s return to the Foo Fighters. All we need now is for John Paul Jones to get back with Led Zep for some dates and everyone will be happy.
Foo Fighters will play the following 2011 UK shows:
July 2011
2nd – Milton Keynes Bowl, UK (support form Death Cab For Cutie and Biffy Clyro)
3rd – Milton Keynes Bowl, UK (support from Jimmy Eat World and Biffy Clyro)
