This December Cracker’s two co-founding members David Lowery & Johnny Hickman will be performing as a semi-acoustic duo in intimate clubs throughout the UK - marking the first time this influential American rock band has crossed the pond for any UK dates in over four years. Not only will they be performing material stretching over the last two decades of Cracker’s recording career (including last year's critically-acclaimed album Sunrise In The Land Of Milk And Honey) but also songs from Lowery’s other pioneering indie-rock band Camper Van Beethoven. Perhaps even more exciting, though, is that they’ll also be unveiling new songs from Lowery’s own debut full-length solo effort, 'The Palace Guards' (in-stores February 1st).
This is all in advance of what will certainly be a very busy year for Lowery in 2011, as he's currently been writing new music with Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven for upcoming albums from both bands (this will mark the first new material from CVB since their lauded 2004 'New Roman Times' release). In addition, he also plans to continue working on his popular 300 Songs project - a blog chronicling all of the songs he's written and recorded with both Cracker & CVB.
Plans are also in the works to turn these wry, humorous and informative musings on his songs, bands and, ultimately, the music business in general, into his first published book later in the year.
