Las Vegas rockers The Killers have announced their live return at the Lollapalooza Festival in Chile. The band will play as the festival makes its first ever venture onto international ground after its North American formation in 1991.
The Killers will headline the festival alongside Kanye West and Jane’s Addiction, whose frontman Perry Farrell founded the event 20 years ago. The singer expressed his excitement about the event in a statement earlier this week: "Our ambition is to plant a very strong seed in Chile. One that will grow over the years, and provide Santiago with an event for the ages" he said.
Also set to play at the event are bands including Yeah Yeah Yeahs, 30 Seconds to Mars, The National, The Drums, Cold War Kids, The Flaming Lips, CSS and a host of Chilean talent.
It will be the first public performance for the Killers in over a year after the band announced their hiatus in January 2010. The band are currently believed to be writing in the studio and plan to tour new material from April onwards after their Lollapalooza appearance.
The festival will be held on April 2nd-3rd at O’Higgins Park in Santiago, Chile.
