James Blake and Bon Iver have unveiled their collaborative track ‘Fall Creek Boys Choir’ online, and you can listen to the song at the bottom of this page.
The song was played for the first time on BBC Radio 1 last night, following a brief announcement on Blake’s official Twitter page that simply read “24th August 2011 – James Blake & Bon Iver’s ‘Fall Creek Boys Choir’.” Blake was interviewed on the station before and after the track was played, revealing that the song came about from a chance meeting at this year’s SXSW festival.
The pair sent ideas and opinions to each other via email, never actually entering the studio together to record the track. Blake also hinted at the possibility of new material from the pair, a possibility made all the more realistic after the duo placed the words “Enough Thunder - Oct 2011” in the description to their first track. It is not currently known if ‘Enough Thunder’ will be an album, EP or another stand-alone track.
So what do you think of the track? Is it another example of Blake’s sparse genius or just overhyped, an example of what happens when an artist is left alone with boredom and auto-tune machine? Opinions are more than welcome as always. You can listen to ‘Fall Creek Boys Choir’ below:
