Signer Beyoncé Knowles has announced at the MTV Video Music Awards that she will be having a baby with her husband Jay-Z.
The ‘Single Ladies’ artist has been with Jay-Z since around 2002, and, following their marriage in 2008, the pair are finally ready to have a child together. It was revealed at the awards that she was five months pregnant.
And, as good as the news is for Beyoncé and Jay-Z, the baby has already greatly benefitted both MTV and Twitter – the Video Music Awards became one of the most watched items in MTV’s history after it pulled 12.4million viewers, and the announcement of her pregnancy also broke Twitter records for the “most tweets per second” ever recorded (a staggering 8,868 tweets a second).
Evidently though, the news has come as a wonderful surprise to Jay-Z most of all, as the star was hugged and high-fived by his entourage after his wife performed flawlessly at the award ceremony. The only thing that could upset the hip-hop artist would be news be finding out the baby wasn’t his – it seems unlikely, but there has been speculation that the baby is actually in fact Destiny’s Child.
