Jessie J is the most likely candidate to come away from this year’s MOBO awards with a smile on her face after picking up five nominations yesterday. The Essex-born singer leads the pack with nods in the Best Song, Best Album, Best Newcomer, Best Video and Best UK Act categories.
Speaking about her nominations, Jessie J said yesterday: "I am so honoured to be nominated. I have watched so many of the artists I look up to being nominated, winning awards and performing. It's amazing to be in the company of such amazing talent."
Other acts leading the nominations are Wretch 32, Adele and Tinie Tempah, each of whom have received four nods.
Speaking about this year’s nomination list, Founder of MOBO Kanya King said: “We are very pleased with the level of this year’s nominees, including many emerging artists, some who have come from backgrounds where they haven’t been given a foot in the door, so-to-speak. These artists have shown real determination to make it happen.”
The MOBO Awards will take place in Glasgow on October 5th.
