Pearl Jam’s 20th anniversary music festival featured a set by the band so star-studded it challenges the Foo Fighters’ epic Milton Keynes Bowl performance in July – with cameos from QOTSA’s Josh Homme, The Strokes’ Julian Casablancas, and even Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell.
Their 20 year celebratory weekend bash was as big and crazy as expected, and fans were treated to an all-star series of performances by Pearl Jam and a range of famous musicians – which you can see in the embedded videos below.
It’ll be hard to top the Pearl Jam set from the night, which will surely go down in rock history as one of the most legendary shows ever, as the band were joined by Josh Homme, Julian Casablancas, Chris Cornell, Liam Finn, Glen Hansard, Dan Peters, Dhani Harrison – as well as the band performing a cover of The Who’s ‘Love Reign O’er Me’.
The party really started when Cornell walked on stage, reuniting ‘Temple of the Dog’, a 90’s group consisting of Pearl Jam plus Cornell. They performed three of their original tracks as well as covering ‘Stardog Champion’, by Mother Love Bone.
After Cornell departed the stage, Pearl Jam were joined by Julian Casablancas to sing ‘Not For You’, which was in turn followed by the entrance of Josh Homme, who grabbed the mic to perform guest vocals on ‘In the Moonlight’. If that wasn’t enough, Eddie Vedder and co. Were coupled with Glen Hansard from ‘The Swell Season’, Mudhoney’s Dan Peters and New Zealand singer songwriter Liam Finn for a rendition of ‘Who Are You’. The final Pearl Jam collaboration was with Dhani Harrison, son of The Beatles’ George Harrison, for ‘State of Love and Trust’.
The festivities didn’t end there, as the band got together to perform The Who’s classic ‘Love Reign O’er Me’, before The Strokes got their own collaboration, as Eddie Vedder joined them on stage to perform their hit ‘Juicebox’.
