Korn Reveal New Album Details - Will The Record Be Dubstep Heavy?

Nu metal icons Korn have announced details of their new album – and it’s set to be a dubstep-filled LP packed with as many dirty wobbles as it is chunky downtuned riffs.
The Californian four-piece, fronted by vocalist Jonathan Davis, pretty much pioneered the nu metal genre when it spawned back in the late 90s, and have inspired countless bands that have since made their name today. But, after a recent collaboration with dubstep producer and ex-emo Skrillex, Korn’s sound changed – and the new album will feature producers Excision, Noisia, and Datsik.
‘The Path of Totality’ is the new Korn LP, set for a December 5th release. It’ll apparently be filled with tracks with names like ‘Narcissistic Cannibal’, ‘Burn the Obedient’, and ‘Illuminati’, but how much influence will the 140bpm dubstep craze have on the final outcome of the album? Are Korn fans still gonna be able to turn up at shows and headbang while flashing the devil horns? Or will gigs turn into late night ketamine-fuelled raves? Jonathan Davis tries to explain the new album to Metal Hammer:
“The title ‘The Path of Totality’ refers to the fact that in order to see the sun in a full solar eclipse, you must be in the exact right place in the exact right time. That’s how this album came together. I think all the producers feel the same way. I’m not sure it could ever happen again.”
So, not much revealed about the album there – looks like you’ll just have to wait a little longer to hear the new Korn sound. Stay with Stereoboard for future Korn news.
