Boyzone Planning 20th Anniversary Tour & Album in 2013

2011 has been an extremely active year for boy-bands – Take That completed one of the biggest tours to date, Westlife have decided to call it a day after their next tour, New Kids on the Block have teamed up with the Backstreet Boys for a European tour – now, not to miss out on the action, Irish boy-band Boyzone have announced that they’re thinking of reuniting for a new album and tour to celebrate 20 years since their birth.

The boys got together in 1993 and by 2013, it’ll be their 20th anniversary – and Ronan Keating and co don’t want to let it slip by without some kind of celebrations. Keaton’s pal and bandmate Keith Duffy told Hot Press that in late 2012/early 2013, a new album could be on the cards, with a range of new shows too.

“We’re gonna be 20 years together in 2013; we got together in ’93,” Duffy said. “So we’re thinking of getting back together at the end of 2012, October, November, and getting a new album together, an anniversary album of some of our favourite songs, some of our old songs and some brand new songs, and maybe do an anniversary tour, and just celebrate the fact that we’re 20 years together.”

The band was rocked by the tragic death of Stephen Gately back in 2009, but their heads are held high now as they look to burst back into the scene – news which will send girls screaming around the UK and Ireland.

“We’ll never split up again,” Duffy continued. “We’re not a band that is gonna be busy working 12 months of the year, that’s never gonna happen because we’ve all got families and kids and different interests – mine being the acting. It’s something I never want to close the door on, because I love my time with the band.

“I’d never be in the music business outside of Boyzone. It’s the only part of the music business [that] I’ve ever been in. It’s part of my life, it’s part of my upbringing, all of my memories of life. Everything that happened to me – the birth of my children, my marriage, everything has been while I was in Boyzone. So it’s a part of me life I never wanna close the door on.”
