Jay-Z/Jay Z Officially Drops Hyphen From Name!

Thursday, 18 July 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Jay Z recently dropped his latest album ‘Magna Carta... Holy Grail’, and now he’s dropped something else - the hyphen from his name!

That’s right, according to Billboard and their editor Joe Levy, Hov’s label have confirmed that he’ll be dropping the hyphen from his moniker.

Billboard recently started spelling it Jay Z, and on iTunes, he’s now labelled as Jay Z too - so this isn’t some kind of joke or publicity act, it’s the real deal. The news was broken bye Levy via Twitter - check his post out below.

Pitchfork have expressed their sadness at ‘breaking the habit’ that is spelling Jay Z with a hyphen, but for us UK writers, it’s great - it makes it a lot easier for us to say ‘Jay Zed’ now, instead of ‘Jay Zee’.

But, in bigger Jay Z news, tickets for his up and coming UK tour go on sale tomorrow morning at 9am - check the dates and links below to find tickets through Stereoboard!
