HMV Announce Return To Flagship Store On London's Oxford Street

Wednesday, 07 August 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

HMV will return to their flagship store on Oxford Street in London, a shop which originally opened over 90 years ago.

HMV suffered a massive blow earlier this year when they announced they had gone into administration, but when restructuring firm Hilco took over, hope was restored and 132 stores were saved. Now, it's been revealed that they'll returning home - 13 years after it first closed.

The site is currently occupied by Footlocker, but in October it'll finally turn back into the HMV store originally opened by Sir Edward Elgar back in 1921. Hilco chief Paul McGown - who is also the new chairman of HMV - told Retail Week:

"We are thrilled to be returning HMV to its original home at 363 Oxford Street and this reflects HMV’s renewed focus on going back to its roots and getting the basics right, providing the deepest range of entertainment products."
