Tim Wright - bass player for Cleveland experimental rock outfit Pere Ubu and ‘No Wave’ band DNA - has died.
Wright was Pere Ubu’s original bassist and played with them for a number of years before leaving the band to join DNA, alongside Arto Lindsay and Ikue Mori..
Performing with them until 1982, he featured on all their albums, while four of the band’s tracks even earned a spot on ‘No New York’ - an influential album compiled by none other than Brian Eno.
The news of his death was broken by his former PereUbubandmate David Thomas, who wrote via Facebook:
“Tim Wright died Sunday, August 4, 2013, reports longtime partner Mary Ann Livchak. He was an original member of Pere Ubu and later a contributor to the No Wave scene of New York City.”
We at Stereoboard send our condolences too - RIP.
