Gorillaz have shared the second episode of their Song Machine video series.
Désolé, which means "sorry" in French, sees the animated band teaming up with Malian musician Fatoumata Diawara, who sings alongside Damon Albarn in English, French and Bambara.
The breezy, cool track comes with a video that sees the group teleport via a portal to the scenic Lake Como in Italy. Gorillaz drummer Russel Hobbs said:
"Making Désolé with Fatou was a real moment for me, you know. She’s an African Queen. This lady made the song what it is, beautiful, like life. What can I say about Désolé? They say sorry is the hardest word, but that’s not true… Try saying antidisestablishmentarianism with a mouth full of gluten-free cronuts on a speed boat without licking your lips."
Gorillaz started their Song Machine series at the start of the year with Momentary Bliss featuring Slowthai and Slaves. The project finds the band switching from releasing material in a typical album cycle format to uploading tracks from their Kong Studios "as and when they happen."
