Will Butler has released a new track.
Close My Eyes is the second single to be lifted from the Arcade Fire multi-instrumentalist's new solo album, 'Generations', out on September 25.
Head below for the new song and here for previous cut Surrender. The former is an indie-pop offering that finds Butler's vocals the focus until he's joined by female singers for the chorus, while his musical accompaniment is a rich mix of synths and guitar with playful beats and handclaps. It arrives with a video that Butler shot in a row boat built by his grandfather. He said:
"I tried to make the lyrics a straightforward and honest description of an emotion I feel often—a drive for change coupled with despair: 'I’m tired of waiting for a better day. But I’m scared and I’m lazy and nothing’s gonna change.' Kind of a sad song. Trying to tap into some Smokey Robinson/Motown feeling—'I’ve got to dance to keep from crying.'"
