Tom Odell is back with a new single, Numb.

The sparse, piano-led track finds the singer-songwriter in a sombre and reflective mood for the first taster of his forthcoming fourth studio LP, which is scheduled to arrive later in the year, though further details are still to be revealed.

Fresh from touring his 2018 album 'Jubilee Road', the 30-year-old travelled to Los Angeles to begin work on the follow-up. "Then this chronic anxiety that I'd had for a couple of years just got worse,” Odell revealed. Waking up one morning to discover that "I couldn't do anymore music."

Its accompanying video matches the song's vulnerability with Odell slowly shaving his head in an unkept, cluttered room. Of the lyrical inspiration, he added:

"I would say there was this period where I was just disconnected. I felt bogged down, like I was beginning to lose that sense of lightness."

Odell has also shared details of a livestream show and Q&A session on April 10 at 9:30pm GMT, where he'll perform new music from the upcoming record.

Tickets are on sale now and capped at 900, so places are limited. All proceeds will be donated to the 30-year-old's crew and band members to help support them while live shows are not possible due to COVID-19.
