Wolf Alice are back with a new single.
The Last Man On Earth is the first new music to emerge from the British band since the release of their second album, 'Visions of a Life', which came out in 2017 and picked up the following year's Mercury Prize. The song will feature on their new LP, 'Blue Weekend', due out on June 11.
To begin with, the track is a sombre, piano-led affair, but at the halfway mark drums and choral vocals kick in and lead into a '70s rock-flecked, rousing soundscape. Watch its accompanying video below. Vocalist and guitarist Ellie Rowsell said:
“It’s about the arrogance of humans. I’d just read Kurt Vonnegut’s Cat’s Cradle and I had written the line ‘Peculiar travel suggestions are dancing lessons from god’ in my notes. But then I thought: ‘Uh, your peculiar travel suggestion isn’t a dancing lesson from god, it’s just a travel suggestion! Why does everything need to mean something more?’”
