Beyoncé And Taylor Swift Make History At 2021 Grammy Awards

Monday, 15 March 2021 Written by Jon Stickler

Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Megan Thee Stallion, Harry Styles, and Dua Lipa were among the winners at the 63rd annual Grammy Awards.

Queen Bey made history at the socially-distanced ceremony in Los Angeles last night (March 14), becoming the most-awarded woman in Grammy history — overtaking country singer Alison Krauss, winning awards for Best Music Video for Brown Skin Girl, Best R&B Performance for Black Parade, and Best Rap Performance for her remix of Megan Thee Stallion's Savage.

Swift also went into the record books as the first female artist to win Album Of The Year three times, picking up the gong for her COVID-19 lockdown LP 'Folklore'. She previously won with 2010's 'Fearless' and 2016's '1989'. Other three-time recipients of the prize include Frank Sinatra, Paul Simon and Stevie Wonder.

Elsewhere, for the second year in a row, Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas won Record Of The Year for Everything I Wanted — making Eilish the youngest artist to win the award consecutively. Harry Styles took home Best Pop Solo Performance for Watermelon Sugar, Dua Lipa bagged Best Pop Vocal, and Megan Thee Stallion was awarded Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Song.

Other winners include H.E.R., Fiona Apple, Lady Gaga, Nas, Thundercat, Kaytranada, Bodycount, and The Strokes. Head here for the full list.

Earlier in March, the Weeknd confirmed to The New York Times that he will boycott future Grammy Awards after his Blinding Lights single, 2020's biggest-selling track, was snubbed in the 2021 nominations.

Additionally, former One Direction star Zayn Malik tweeted his concerns "about the need for inclusion and the lack of transparency of the nomination process", adding that the current system "allows favouritism, racism, and networking politics to influence the voting."
