The winners of this year’s Brit Awards have been announced.
Little Mix (pictured) took home British Group, making them the first females to do so, while Haim won International Group. Taylor Swift received the Global Icon title and appeared in-person to collect it, and Arlo Parks took home Breakthrough Artist.
Mastercard Album Of The Year went to Dua Lipa for ’Future Nostalgia’ and British Single was given to Harry Styles for Watermelon Sugar.
Dua Lipa and J Hus were awarded Female Solo Artist and Male Solo Artist, respectively, while Billie Eilish and The Weeknd won International Female Solo Artist and International Male Solo Artist.
The Rising Star Award, which was announced in March, was won by Griff. She beat fellow nominees Pa Salieu and Rina Sawayama to take home the award, which recognises the most promising up-and-coming acts. She follows in the footsteps of previous winners Celeste, Sam Fender, Jorja Smith, Adele, Sam Smith, Emeli Sandé, Ellie Goulding, Florence and the Machine, and Rag ’n’ Bone Man.
The awards show took place at the O2 Arena in London with comedian Jack Whitehall returning as host, and appearances by Coldplay, Elton John and Olly Alexander, The Weeknd, Olivia Rodrigo, Arlo Parks, Dua Lipa, Griff, Headie One, and Rag’n’Bone Man and P!nk with the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust Choir.
The ceremony was part of the Government’s scientific Events Research Programme relating to COVID-19, looking at using enhanced testing to examine how events can take place without restrictions. The audience was comprised of frontline workers, with 2500 tickets offered via a ballot. Attendees weren’t required to wear masks or socially distance, but they did have to provide proof they tested negative for COVID-19.
Winners Little Mix, Haim, Arlo Parks, The Weeknd and Griff all have UK tours in the diary for either 2021 or 2022. Click on their names to find out where you can catch them live and book tickets.
