The Divine Comedy have announced a spring UK and Ireland tour.
The Neil Hannon-led band's 19-date trek will begin in Birmingham on April 25, call at the London Palladium on May 3 and conclude in Belfast on May 21. Prior to that, the European leg will start on March 7 in Porto, Portugal and finish in Stockholm on April 9.
Tickets for the UK and Ireland go on general sale at 10am BST on September 10, with tickets for European leg available from 11am CEST on September 17. Hannon said:
“I am so looking forward to playing live again. The last couple of years have been a reminder of how much it means to me personally. It really is my favourite thing. And it seems fitting that we’ll be coming back with a greatest hits* set. You know, in case everyone’s forgotten who I am and what we do!”
The tour shares its name with their new album, 'Charmed Life - The Best Of The Divine Comedy', which is due out on February 4. It will feature 24 tracks from throughout the band's career, as well as new song The Best Mistakes. Hannon added:
“I’ve been luckier than most. I get to sing songs to people and they almost always applaud. I have a lot of dogs - the ultimate benchmark of success. So when asked what to call this collection I thought of Charmed Life. I like the song and it rather sums up how I feel about my life.”
Due to COVID-19, The Divine Comedy have rescheduled their 30th anniversary residency at the Barbican in London to August and September 2022.
