Monday, 04 April 2022 Written by Jon Stickler

Jon Batiste (pictured), Olivia Rodrigo, and Silk Sonic have shared the top honours at the 64th Grammy Awards.

Jazz musician Batiste, the most nominated artist of the night with nods in 11 categories, picked up five trophies, including Album Of The Year for 'We Are', while R&B duo Silk Sonic, featuring Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, took home both the Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year prizes.

Teenage pop phenomenon Olivia Rodrigo collected three Grammy Awards, as did Seattle rockers Foo Fighters, just a week after the unexpected death of their drummer, Taylor Hawkins. Other artists to pick up major awards included country music star Chris Stapleton and rapper Doja Cat.

After a delay of two months due to the COVID-19 surge in late 2021, the 64th Annual Grammy Awards took place yesterday (April 3) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The ceremony included a powerful speech by the Ukrainian president, as well as a tribute to the late Hawkins.

Other artists honoured during the In Memoriam segment included Dusty Hill, Meat Loaf, Gary Brooker, Jim Steinman, Mark Lanegan, and Ronnie Spector.

There was also performances from Lil Nas X, Billie Eilish and BTS, with folk icon Joni Mitchell making a rare public appearance to introduce Brandi Carlile.
