Vukovi have announced their new album.
The follow-up to 2020's 'Fall Better' is called 'Nula' and will arrive on October 7 via LAB Records. Announcing it, the Scottish duo revealed that it's set to be a concept record that follows the adventures of a character (Nula) in a futuristic, sci-fi world. Vocalist Janine Shilstone explained:
"Growing up I was obsessed with the likes of Akira, Batman: The Animated Series, Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth, The Alien franchise, Star Wars, all massive influences of mine."
She added: "I think about what’s happening in the world too much. The way the rich are getting richer and the poor getting poorer. The greed. The cruelty. There’s a lot of that on the record, and in Nula's story."
As a preview, the pair have shared the new single Hades, a sonic blend of synth-rock, punk, pop, and electronic music. It'll feature on the LP alongside 2020's single SLO, which reflects on Shilstone's diagnosis of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Commenting on it, she said: "It’s almost like a love letter to something I hate, something that’s caused me so much suffering. But it’s also me wondering if I would cease to exist if it was removed from me."
Vukovi will appear at a series of summer festivals, including 2000trees in July.
