Led by a synth-based, electronic groove, the track serves as the latest preview of the singer-songwriter's sophomore album, 'My Soft Machine', which is scheduled to arrive through Transgressive Records on May 26.
Guided by her trademark breathy vocals, Blades came together while listening to Missy Elliot, KAYTRANADA and E.S.G with producer Paul Epworth, the singer revealed on Instagram. She commented:
"Paul is just a wizard; he has this childlike spirit that I’ve always really loved and he brought that to Blades. I wanted to make something that I can dance to, finally, because I feel like my songs don’t really have that quality in general. So, I took inspiration from bands like ESG, artists like Kaytranada, and a lot of the kind of 70s Zambian psychedelic rock that I love.
"I imagine this moment at a party where you see someone across the room that you haven’t seen in a while, you felt yourself growing apart, and you’re like, should I, should I not? And then you find the courage to approach them. That’s the story of that song."
Blades will be joined on the record by the previously unveiled cuts Impurities and Weightless. Head below to view the accompanying video, directed by Bedroom at Compulsory Film, who worked with Parks on her Too Good video.
Parks will support the follow-up to 2021's Mercury Prize-winning 'Collapsed In Sunbeams' with a UK and European tour in September. She'll also appear at The Great Escape in Brighton in May, and Readingand Leeds in August.
