Mr Eazi Announces Debut Solo Album With Lead Single Chop Time, No Friend

Mr Eazi has announced his debut studio album.
The Afropop star will release the record on October 27, following up mixtapes and EPs previously released throughout his 10-year career.
Further details, including a title and tracklist, are still to be revealed, though he has shared the lead single, Chop Time, No Friend. Its accompanying video was shot in Dakar, Senegal by director Allison Swank Owen. Eazi said:
"The phrase Chop Time, No Friend is a very common Ghanaian saying, something you will see written on the front or side of buses, just like the popular saying, 'God is Great'. It means when you are eating, you don’t think about anybody, you are just focused on your enjoyment – this song is touching on how people chit-chat on me, but I am still focused on my enjoyment. It is a declaration, a celebration of self. I am saying everything I touch turns to gold, and you can’t trouble me."
Produced by the Grammy Award-winning Ghanaian musician Killbeatz (Ed Sheeran, Wizkid, Burna Boy), and emerging Nigerian producer Andre Vibez, the mid-tempo track blends traditional African rhythms, laid-back vocals and mid-tempo Banku Music sound, which Eazi defined as a slow, engaging mix of Ghanaian and Nigerian influences that are based on melody.
