Lambrini Girls have shared a new single, God's Country.
Arriving via City Slang, the song premiered on BBC Radio 6 Music earlier this week and follows up the band's 2023 debut EP 'You’re Welcome'.
Produced by Gilla Band's Daniel Fox, it finds the Brighton-based trio attacking Great Britain's colonial legacy through an unrelenting cascade of punk energy and clever lyricism. Head below to view the accompanying video, shot in part outside Buckingham Palace in London. The band said:
"God's Country is our long, overdue call-out of the government and rise of the far right. We wrote this a few months back, when the political landscape had evidently reached a global boiling point.
"Great Britain. Think colonial, shit-hole, chunk of land. Thriving off unhinged nationalism, fed to us by the right red hand of unelected prime ministers. Despite this, we have the audacity to call our country ‘Great’. So we ask you, ‘Are you sure?’
"We could deep dive into inspirations and influences- but the songs about politics, not us. We hope the song speaks for itself.
"Rishi, Cameron, Cummings, Starmer - you’re all on our shit list."
Lambrini Girls have also scheduled their biggest headline show yet at London's Scala for June 13. Tickets go on general sale at 10am on Friday (February 16). They'll also play a number of festivals this year, including Wide Awake, 2000 Trees, Y Not?, Reading andLeeds, Manchester Psych Fest, among others.
