Slash has announced details of a new blues solo album.
The star-studded 'Orgy Of The Damned' will arrive through Gibson Records on May 17 and features 12 revitalised blues classics. Produced by Mike Clink, the LP boasts contributions from bassist Johnny Griparic and keyboardist Teddy Andreadis, two musicians from Slash's '90s band Blues Ball, with drummer Michael Jerome and singer-guitarist Tash Neal completing the studio band's line-up.
Guest vocalists on the record include Gary Clark Jr, Billy F. Gibbons, Chris Stapleton, Dorothy, Iggy Pop, Paul Rodgers, Demi Lovato, Brian Johnson, Chris Robinson, and Beth Hart.
As a preview, the Guns N' Roses guitarist has shared the LP's first single, an energetic, electrifying revamp of Howlin' Wolf's Killing Floor featuring AC/DC frontman Johnson on vocals and Aerosmith's singer Steven Tyler on harmonica. Slash said:
"Killing Floor is one of my favorite Howlin’ Wolf songs, but also one of the iconic blues riffs that turned me on as a young guitar player. I've always wanted to cover it in some capacity, and this record was the perfect vehicle. But playing it with this band, and with Brian Johnson singing, it was an achievement I would never have imagined back then. Let alone Steven Tyler providing the harp."
"When Slash asked me to sing on Killing Floor, I said yes immediately," added Johnson. "It was one of the first songs I learned in my very first band, and when he played me the backing track it was a no-brainer, and Steven's harmonica is so bloody hot. I had a ball with Slash in the studio, and I think we did this great old song justice. Rock on."
Slash will resume touring with his long-running band with Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators this spring. The UK and European leg of The River Is Rising - Rest of the World Tour ’24 will launch in Dublin on March 28, then head to Birmingham, Newcastle, Manchester, Glasgow and London, where they'll play the OVO Arena Wembley.
Following the UK and Ireland dates, the rock band will call in major cities in the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Switzerland, Luxembourg and France.
Slash, Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators' latest album is '4', which landed in February 2022.
