The Smashing Pumpkins Announce New Guitarist Kiki Wong

The Smashing Pumpkins have revealed their new guitarist.
At the start of 2024, the legendary alt-rock band announced that they were looking for a new guitarist after long-time member Jeff Schroeder decided to part ways with the group, having been part of the band since 2006.
After posting a wanted ad for a new shredder, and reviewing over 10,000 applications and auditions for the position, The Smashing Pumpkins have revealed that Los Angeles-based six-stringer Kiki Wong will join them on the road for their upcoming dates. Writing on their social media channels, they said:
"SP is excited to officially welcome highly-skilled veteran guitarist Kiki Wong. Kiki joins the band’s touring line-up of Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin, and James Iha, along with mainstays Jack Bates and Katie Cole. Please join us in welcoming Kiki to the SP family."
Frontman Billy Corgan added: "Reviewing the work of these incredible musicians was a herculean, albeit worthy effort. First off, I really want to thank everyone who submitted materials for consideration. It wasn’t an easy decision with how much great guitar playing we were lucky enough to see and hear over the past few months. I was a fan of Kiki’s before she submitted her name to be considered – and it’s great that someone of her acumen will be part of our touring family."
The Chicago Grammy-winning group will team up with Weezer for a co-headline UK and Ireland tour this summer, followed by dates with Interpol in mainland Europe, where they've also lined up festival appearances.
In between dates on The Saviors Tour with Green Day, they'll play their own shows in North America in July, August and September. Tickets are on sale now.
They released their most recent album, 'Atum', in 2023 and are currently working on its follow-up.
