Kate Pierson Of The B-52's Announces Solo Album 'Radio And Rainbows'

Friday, 26 July 2024 Written by Jon Stickler

Kate Pierson of the B-52's has shared details of her new solo album.

'Radio And Rainbows' will arrive through SongVest Records on September 20, nine years after her solo debut, 2015's 'Guitars and Microphones'.

Alongside the announcement, the singer has released the record's atmospheric yet dancey new single and opening track, Evil Love, which unfurls in the style of a film-noir of sorts, showing off her distinctive, soaring vocals over an infectious '60s pop instrumental. Introducing the earworm, she said in a statement:

"Sometimes evil love is the only love you need. A not so true tale of obsessive possessiveness and righteous revenge. I started out writing a song with the amazing Bleu McCauley with the idea of a song about forgiveness; but when our creative chemistries collided, the result was a noir thriller of a song set on the coast of Maine. And it’s one hell of a storm — so hang onto your hats for Evil Love!"

On the album, she added: "It’s an eclectic group of songs, anthems, dance things, a disco song… Overall, the album has an upbeat vibe because I wanted to put out something positive in these dark times. I wanted to make it fun!"

The record will also feature last year's single Every Day Is Halloween, co-written by Sia, as well as contributions from Chris Braide, Jimmy Harry, Tim Andersen, and Sam Dixon.

'Radio and Rainbows' tracklist:

1. Evil Love
2. Take Me Back To The Party
3. Every Day Is Halloween
4. The Beauty Of It All
5. Pillow Queen
6. Wings
7. Radios And Rainbows
8. Higher Place
9. Dream On
10. Always Till Now
11. Living In A Monet
12. Give Your Heart To Science
