Pixies have released a new song.
One of the loudest, high-octane recordings by the Boston band in a while, Oyster Beds serves as the third preview of their new album, 'The Night The Zombies Came', following on from Chicken and You're So Impatient.
Driven by fuzzed-up guitars, the punky song was inspired by frontman Black Francis' return to painting during the group's time recording at Rockfield Studios in Monmouthshire, Wales. It's also influenced by the album's artwork, which sits in the hallway of Francis' home. He described it as, "a laundry list of things I was painting over the last couple years. I took up painting again when we were recording at Rockfield, and I didn’t stop."
The track arrives ahead of Pixies' set at All Points East in London supporting LCD Soundsystem tonight (August 23), an appearance at Victorious Festival in Portsmouth this weekend, plus Irish dates next week. They'll also support Pearl Jam at shows in Australia and New Zealand later this year. Tickets are on sale now.
The follow-up to 2022's 'Doggerel' is due out on October 25 via BMG.
Pixies Upcoming Tour Dates are as follows
Tue August 27 2024 - GALWAY Airport
Wed August 28 2024 - BELFAST Custom House Square
Thu August 29 2024 - DUBLIN RDS Simmonscourt
