Panda Bear has announced his seventh solo studio album.
Animal Collective's Noah Lennox will release 'Sinister Grift' through Domino Recordings on February 28, marking his first solo record since 2019's 'Buoys' and following up 2022's 'Reset', a collaborative album with Sonic Boom.
To coincide with the news, the musician has also shared the LP's first single and closing track, Defense, which features Lennox's signature multi-layered vocals, lush harmonies, and guitar work from Cindy Lee, the persona of Canadian musician Patrick Flegel.
Crafted at Lennox's Estudio Campo in Lisbon, Portugal, and co-produced with his Animal Collective bandmate Josh "Deakin" Dibb, the album also includes contributions from Spirit Of The Beehive's Rivka Ravede, and Lennox's other Animal Collective bandmates — a first for a Panda Bear record. Dibb said:
"Working on this record felt like a sacred and warm return. Noah and I first started putting music down to multitrack cassette in 1991. 32 years later and working in the same fashion, two friends alone in a room searching for sounds and feelings that move us, I am very proud of what we created together. Sinister Grift feels like the songwriter I've known for over 30 years but also feels like some sort of new chapter for Noah. Couldn't be more proud of the result."
As part of a short European tour, Panda Bear will play a show at The Lexington in London on December 10. He'll also tour North America with Toro Y Moi in February and May, as well has embarking on another run of European shows in March. Tickets go on general sale at 10am local time on Friday (October 18).
