The Pogues To Celebrate 40th Anniversary Of 'Rum Sodomy & The Lash' With Spring UK Tour

Tuesday, 19 November 2024 Written by Jon Stickler

The Pogues have announced a UK tour that will celebrate the 40th anniversary of their iconic album, 'Rum Sodomy & the Lash'.

The legendary Irish band, featuring founding members James Fearnley, Jem Finer, and Spider Stacy, along with special guests, will call in Leeds, Birmingham, London, Glasgow, Manchester and Newcastle between May 1 and 8.

The shows will see the group performing their second album, 'Rum Sodomy & The Lash', in its entirety, as well as b-sides and fan favourites. The Pogues said:

"After the uproarious bash which was the 40th anniversary of our first record, 'Red Roses for Me', in 2024, we wanted to do it again, but with 'Rum Sodomy & the Lash.'"

The dates mark the group's first headline UK tour in 13 years, and their first UK appearance since 2014 when they performed at London's Hyde Park with The Libertines. The tour will also mark their first since the passing of vocalist and lyricist Shane MacGowan in November 2023. Tickets go on general sale at 9.30am on Friday (November 22).

Last month, The Pogues released a special 40th anniversary edition of their debut album, 'Red Roses For Me'. Fearnley, Finer and Stacy will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the record with a show in on December 17, featuring members of groups such as Fontaines D.C., Pretenders, and The Mary Wallopers.
