The Murder Capital have released another track from their upcoming third album.
Love Of Country is a dark, post-punk offering that tackles the ugly side of nationalism. It'll feature on the John Congleton-produced 'Blindness', which is due out on February 21.
The track is available digitally and as a limited edition 7" exclusively via the Dublin quintet's official website and Bandcamp. All profits from the purchases will be donated to the Medical Aid For Palestinians charity. Frontman James McGovern said:
"Love Of Country is a song about the dark side of patriotism and nationalism, and what they become when they are warped and weaponised. Across the world, we are seeing hatred of “other” spreading like a disease. No claiming of land today is more barbaric than the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people.
"We are releasing a 7” record of Love Of Country, with 100% of the proceeds going to Medical Aid for Palestine. In the face of, and beyond such clear acts of evil, it is more vital than ever to cherish the richness of our diverse communities and the power of human connection. We must stand firm against the rise of nationalist ideologies and speak up for those whose worlds are being torn apart by hatred and violence."
A mural by Viktor H, commissioned by the band and featuring lyrics from the new song, is currently on display in central Dublin in support of their campaign. Take a look below.
The group previously teased the follow-up to 2023's 'Gigi's Recovery' with the singles Words Lost Meaning and Can't Pretend To Know.
They'll support the record with shows in Australia and New Zealand in March and April, before a UK and European tour between April 17 and May 17. They'll also headline Live At The Iveagh Gardens in Dublin on July 19, and support The Maccabees at the reunited band's All Points East headline show at London's Victoria Park on August 24. Tickets are on sale now.
‘Love Of Country’ is about the dark side of patriotism and nationalism, and what they become when they are warped and weaponised.
