Sunflower Bean Announce Fourth Album 'Mortal Primetime' With Lead Single Champagne Taste

Sunflower Bean have announced a new album.
'Mortal Primetime' marks the New York band's first fully self-produced LP and will arrive through Lucky Number on April 25. The follow-up to 2022's 'Headful Of Sugar', and last year's 'Shake' EP, offers a renewed sense of purpose for the trio, who nearly lost everything they built together. Vocalist-bassist Julia Cumming said:
"You get to decide what your prime is, and you fight for it. This is ours, and that can’t be taken away by circumstance. We can’t take it away from each other. This moment, where we are now, is what we’ve always fought for."
To coincide with the news, they've have shared the new album's lead single, Champagne Taste, a fuzzy, riff-laden rock track about enduring difficult times. Check out the Isaac Roberts-directed video below. The band explained:
"This song came after a period that felt like rock bottom for the band. It is about feeling beaten down but still driving forward, to keep faith, to grow and to continue to create on our own terms, our Mortal Primetime."
Sunflower Bean will support Cage The Elephant on their UK and European tour dates next month. They'll also play a headline show at The George Tavern in London's East End on February 27, before embarking on a new North American tour in the spring. Tickets for the new dates go on general sale at 10am local time on Friday (January 31).
