The rock track featuring orchestral elements marks the second preview of the singer-songwriter's new album, 'Goodbye Small Head', due out on May 16 via Bella Union. Introducing the song and its accompanying Lex Walton-directed video on social media, Furman wrote:
"Do you ever feel like the car is going too fast and you need pull over and get out. But the driver won’t stop. You ask again, you ask louder. You plead. They won’t even turn the music down.
"America 2025. I’m thinking about whether I might have to jump out of a speeding vehicle. That is how it feels. Hey driver where you taking us. Am I overreacting.
"I wish for everyone a deep sense of safety and calm, and the feeling of strength to defend those who are unsafe. But for moments when things don’t feel that way at all, I need music like this."
Furman shared details of the follow-up to 2022's 'All Of Us Flames' last month, alongside its lead single Grand Mal.
She'll accompany the record's release with a UK tour that includes record store gigs with Resident and Rough Trade, and an appearance at Bearded Theory festival. She also has North American dates in the diary between July and October. Tickets are on sale now.
Prior to that, she'll play a London show at EartH on May 18 that's billed as A World of Love & Care. The performance will feature both full-band and solo sets, plus a Q&A session. Tickets are on sale now.
