CIVIC have laid out plans for their third studio album.
The Melbourne rockers will release 'Chrome Dipped' through ATO Records on May 30, following up 2023's 'Taken By Force'. The record finds the four-piece expanding their sonic palette, offering a shift away from the raw, guitar-driven hooks and licks associated with the frenzied Australian punk sound, while maintaining their sharpness and intensity. Guitarist Lewis Hodgson explained:
"We’d been pushing a sort of ’70s Australian punk sound with our first two records, but I think we wanted to take it in a different direction. I think it was all starting to feel a bit stale."
Vocalist Jim McCullough added: "We didn’t really know what we were going to make but we went into it very open for change."
As a preview, the group have shared the album's driving lead single and title track. They said: "Chrome Dipped is about finding human emotion and a world that’s hurling towards complete reliance on the machine."
CIVIC will tour North America in May and June, following dates supporting Sex Pistols featuring Frank Carter in Australia in April. In the summer, they'll play shows across Europe and the UK, with the run including an appearance at 2000trees festival on July 10. Tickets are on sale now.
