The Kooks have announced an acoustic UK tour for next month.
The Brighton band will celebrate the release of their seventh studio album, 'Never/Know', with stripped back shows in Sheffield, Bury, Leeds, Nottingham, Liverpool, Bournemouth, Southampton, Bristol and Coventry between May 2 and 14.
The dates will see frontman Luke Pritchard and guitarist Hugh Harris performing intimate sets in collaboration with the cities' independent record stores. Pritchard said:
"[Independent venues are] the lifeblood of the British music scene. Clubs like The Leadmill were vital for us when we started out and it breaks my heart to see these places closing down. It’ll be a sad day if we lose The Leadmill.
"The UK government has undervalued live music for too long. They need to do more to keep this industry alive, for the benefit of the country and all future artists that risk not being heard."
Tickets for the group's first live performances of the year go on general sale at 10am today (April 11).
The Kooks will release the follow-up to 2022's '10 Tracks To Echo In The Dark' on May 9 via Virgin Music Group. The duo previously teased the record with last month's single Sunny Baby, and the title track, of sorts, released in January.
They'll also tour the US in May and June, ahead of appearances at Glasgow's TRNSMT festival in July and the Reading and Leeds festivals in August. Tickets are on sale now.
