With a name that sounds like a Kung-Fu film or possibly something more adult, Enter Shikari are a massive post-hardcore band who famously sold out London’s Astoria before they’d even been signed. The only other band ever to have done this was ‘The Darkness.’ Click here for tickets.
‘Shikari’ is actually from Punjabi, Marathi, Persian and several other languages and means ‘Hunter’. It also means I’m a little ignorant, but I’ve looked it up, so that’s ok. ‘Shikari’ is the name of a boat owned by a relative of a band member and the name of a character in a play written by vocalist Roughton Reynolds.
They have a gift for blending, with their 2007 album ‘Take to the Skies’ being noted for electronic beats with screaming metal guitars, then this year’s album being not just noted but critically thumbs-upped for blending drum 'n' bass and dubstep to their throat-ripping metal sound.
Enter Shakari have confirmed the following dates:
Feb 06 - Blackpool Empress Ballroom
Feb 07 - Glasgow Barrowlands
Feb 09 - Middlesbrough Empire
Feb 11 - Bournemouth O2 Academy
Feb 12 - London Hammersmith HMV Apollo
