Launching a UK tour to celebrate the 250,000th sale of their second album ‘Wild Young Hearts’, Noisettes are part punk, a bit rock’n’roll, somewhat jazz and a several other genres and decades thrown in for good measure. Fronted by Shingai Shoniwa who, and I mean this in a completely non-Sid James way, has an impressive set of lungs on her, Noisettes also features Dan Smith on Guitar and Jamie Morrison who bangs things. They’re taking the unusual but inspired step of appealing for upcoming local bands to play as support acts on this tour. Now that’s musical philanthropy. These have included This Beautiful thief in Birmingham, Jack Butcher in Glasgow and Emily Breeze in Bristol.
Noisettes first hit the big time with the second single of ‘Wild Young Hearts’, ‘Don't Upset the Rhythm’ which reached number two in 2009. They were busy before then however, having extensively toured Britain and America in support of the likes of Babyshambles, Bloc Party and Muse as well as in support of their debut album ‘What's the Time Mr. Wolf?’ in 2007.
