Elecronica (screwed in a power-cut) outfit Breathe Carolina started out as a MySpace band and are now a duo with screaming, fainting fans and everything. Oddly, the name comes from a dream singer David Schmitt had when he was 9 about calming down a woman called Carolina. Click Here to Compare & Buy Breathe Carolina Tickets
Ok, they’re electric, but on tour they use real musicians, even if one is on a synthesizer. If that black-out happened, they’d still be able to play. That wouldn’t have happened when they lived in MySpace. They’re kind of half electric, half not, like they’re crawling out of the monitor. Possibly to get you.
They formed in 2007 and by 2009 were getting 9,000,000 MySpace plays a year. They released their first EP ‘Gossip’ by podcast and their first album the same way, with a tour to promote it. They tour a lot. In 2009, they signed with fearless records.
For those among you wondering how the record industry will cope with it’s current technological challenges, Breathe Carolina’s route to success is a nice example of how to do it.
Breathe Carolina’s UK tour looks like this:
18 Jan - Drift In The City, Portsmouth
19 Jan - The Cockpit 2, Leeds
20 Jan - O2 Academy2 Birmingham
21 Jan - O2 Academy2 Islington, London
22 Jan - Roadhouse, Manchester
