Veteran of the music world, Ronnie Wood, seems to be reliving his wild youth all over again as reports emerged today that he has been arrested and questioned over claims that he assaulted his young Russian lover.

The Rolling Stone was arrested in the High Street of Claygate, Esther, Surrey by officers called to a report of a possible assault on his on-off girlfriend, Ekaterina Ivanova, after he attacked her during a row.

A Surrey Police spokesman said: “We can confirm that a 62 year old man from Esher was arrested last night on suspicion of assault in connection with a domestic incident in Claygate High Street. He has this afternoon been released on bail until a date in January pending further inquiries.”

The arrest is the latest incident in a restless relationship between the ageing rocker, who is 62, and the former cocktail waitress, who is 20. In September police were called to the couple’s five million pound home after a row broke out and it was claimed that Miss Ivanova threatened to kill herself. Wood left his wife Jo of 23 years for Miss Ivanova in 2008, and within weeks both Ronnie and Jo Wood’s divorce will be finalised.

Last week the lap dancing bar where Wood met Miss Ivanona was raided and closed by Vice Squad officers who revealed that The Capricorn Club, Soho, was a one million pound a year sex and drugs den. An officer said the bar was an underground brothel where clients had sex in cubicles and drugs, including cocaine, were easily available. However there is no suggestion that Miss Ivanova and Mr Wood were involved in any crimes committed at the club.

A spokesman for Wood, David Rigg of Project Associates, said: “I can confirm that there was an incident last night that Ronnie Wood was arrested. He has since been released on police bail. We have no further statement to make at this time.”
