More and more artists are combining the savage popularity of Hip-Hop with, you know, stuff that’s actually good. Mr Hudson is just one of these visionaries. Where he’ll ultimately stand on the family tree of music in relation to the next big sound remains to be seen but we can tell you where he’ll be this May. Touring, that’s where.
Mr Hudson, who looks a bit like a German android but is actually from Birmingham, is a trilby-wearing Oxford graduate who represents an entirely new kind of bling; one with tweed instead of Burberry. Nevertheless, the Hip-Hop world has welcomed him with open arms like the breath of posh, fresh air that he is.
Mr Hudson & The Library, his former band, came to prominence thanks to an impressive debut on Jools Holland’s show and some air time by the likes of Zane Lowe. Mr Hudson is now signed to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. music. His latest album, ‘Straight No Chaser’, was fuelled by his break-up. “To admit the chinks in your armour,” he says. “To admit your sorrow, is the most Gangster thing you can do.” It’s a brave new world.
Mr Hudson will be playing:
May 05 - Koko London
May 07 - Anson Rooms Bristol
May 09 - The Ritz Manchester
May 11 - O2 Academy Newcastle
