Bad news for Slayer fans. The American thrash metal icons have confirmed that their forthcoming UK and European tour has been postponed once again.
Slayer formed during the early 1980s in California and introduced a new metal to the world when daft lyrics and leather clothing dominated the genre. Introducing elements of punk rock to their music they created something new and turned thrash metal into a globally renowned phenomenon.
Slayer released their awesome album ‘Reign in Blood’ in 1986. The album, along with their ferocious live acts, propelled the band to instant iconic status. Since those early days, Slayer have kept true to their roots and are now regarded as one of the best metal groups of their generation.
Returning last year with their new album ‘World Painted Blood’, an exhilarated Slayer were planning on visiting the UK for a series of tour dates in November last year. However with Bass player Tom Araya suffering from back problems, the tour dates were re-arranged for March this year. With the musician still recovering from health problems, the upcoming shows have had to be postponed again.
“Tom (Araya) gave various medical treatments more than a fair shot, but they just haven’t handled the problem,” the band’s manager Rick Sales told Blabbermouth. “So he’s biting the bullet and is scheduled for back surgery at the end of the month.”
Slayer were due to open their European tour in Manchester on March 7th before playing two nights at London’s Forum venue. The band have postponed the following UK shows:
March
7 Manchester Academy
8 London Forum
9 London Forum
April
2 Nottingham Rock City
3 Glasgow Barrowland
4 Leeds Academy
5 Birmingham Academy
