The comedian is scheduled to perform a series of stand-up gigs in 20 countries, including gigs in America. Sell-out crowds in UK venues last year have already confirmed his popularity and for someone who has made a career out of saying the most cringeworthy and embarrassing things, Gervais hasn’t done badly at all.
Made famous by the brilliant fake docu-soap scripts for television programme The Office, he will play the 12,500 capacity Wembley arena on April 26th and 27th, just before heading stateside for two nights at New York’s Madison Square Garden and Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
The award winning writer and comedian spoke about his forthcoming time on the road, which will be his fourth stand-up tour. “The Office is shown in about 90 countries, so I’ve been promising myself I'll visit some of them,” Gervais told the BBC News Website.
Coming a long way since his radio show on London’s XFM, the 48 year old has just recently furthered his popularity in America by hosting - in typical darkly brilliant form - The 67th Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles.
Tickets for the Extras actor's Wembley shows go on sale on January 22nd.
