Known as a group to be best sampled live, Alabama 3, or A3 as known in America, are particularly notable for their fusion of styles, lyrics and spectacular live performances. What I personally like about the group is that every member of the Alabama 3 has an alias by which they are known, the band’s founding members adopting the personas Larry Love (Rob Spraggs) and The Very Reverend Dr. D. Wayne Love (Jake Black). Despite all this however, you may know the group best for *that* theme tune, 'Woke Up This Morning', the one from TV show ‘Sopranos’.
Mixing rock, dance, blues, country and even gospel since 1996 their songs have sampled Jim Jones in “Mao Tse Stung Said” and Birminghm Six survivor Patrick Hill in “The Thrills Have Gone".
If you like a bit of Hank Williams as well as the beats of The Happy Mondays, be sure to pick-up a ticket for one of Alabama 3’s UK shows.
