Jimi Hendrix To Be Given 'Rock Band' Treatment

Iconic guitar legend Jimi Hendrix will be getting his own version of the hit music game ‘Rock Band’.

Famous for his extravangant stage show, fronting an often sensitive and always exceptional songwriter, the seattle born guitar player is regarded as one of the most groundbreaking musicians of all time. Tragically passing away in 1970, Jimi Hendrix has recently had a boost to his fame with a series of demos released under his name as an album ‘Valleys Of Neptune’. Contained within the album is blend of the early Jimi Hendrix Experience trio and the later Band Of Gypsies, merging the sounds of psych-rock and the rhythms of black America.

With more ‘new’ material expected shortly, Hendrix is set to be immortalised even further with a special edition of the hugely sucessful game ‘Rock Band’. A new instalment is due for release later this year.

The guitarist’s step-sister Janie Hendrix confirmed the news to The LA Times, explaining that the ‘Rock Band’ game would be in shops by the end of 2010. The news comes as Janie Hendrix recently signed a new contract with Sony Music which permts the guitarist’s music to be made “available through every type of media”. Janie Hendrix refused to comment further on this.

Hendrix isnt the only artist to be given the ‘Rock Band’ treatment. A few months ago The Beatles were celebrated with a hugely successful instalment of the game. Meanwhile American punk trio Green Day are also set to have a version of the game released sometime this year.
