Gorillaz Schedule Full UK And Ireland Arena Tour & Tickets

Cartoon band Gorillaz have announced their biggest challenge yet. It’s going to be a case of monkey see, monkey do, monkey tour with a full-on UK and Ireland arena jaunt!

Having already conquered massive USA music festival Coachella as well as London’s Roundhouse venue, the Gorillaz have now got their sights set on some of the UK and Ireland's huge arenas.

Still enjoying the praise received from the recent release of their five-star latest album ‘Plastic Beach’, the band will hit the road in September for a full arena tour, entitled the “Escape To Plastic Beach Tour”.

Hitting arenas in the big cities such as Birmingham, Newcastle, Manchester and London, the group – masterminded by Blur front man Damon Albarn – are expected to feature a variety of special guests at their performances.

To date, there are no confirmed details as to which guest stars will make appearances on the autumn run, however recently, former Clash boys Paul Simonon and Mick Jones have become full-time members of the band.

Speaking about the tour, Damon Albarn explained what fans should expect from the gigs. “"We put more into a single Gorillaz show than most bands do playing a lifetime ... while making 10 times as much in the process," he said. "But it's not about balancing the books. I've no interest in that. It's about making you feel like you're watching the greatest show on earth."

Gorillaz will play the following UK dates:

September 2010

10th Birmingham NIA, Birmingham
11th Metro Arena, Newcastle
12th Evening News Arena, Manchester
14th O2 Arena, London
15th O2 Arena, London
22nd O2 Arena, Dublin

Tickets are available from 9am on Friday 21st May, priced from £45. Check back to stereoboard.com for presales!
