Glastonbury Guru Michael Eavis Claims 2011 Headliners Already Confirmed

Campers may still be cleaning the dirt out from under their fingernails, but Glastonbury god Michael Eavis has already announced that he has “three really good headliners” lined up for the 2011 weekender.

NME has reported that Glasto founder Michael Eavis has already lined up next year’s showstoppers and is insisting that he is “not telling you who” such bands are. Well, not for a while anyway.

The rumours that U2 have already been rebooked for next year’s festivities, after pulling-out of the bash last minute due to an injury to Bono, have been waved away by Eavis. However, after speaking to U2’s guitarist The Edge following his surprise appearance during Muse’s Saturday night headline slot, Eavis revealed that U2 are still keen to play.

Whilst chatting to the Irish rocker after the performance, Eavis recalled that The Edge had said “Will I get paid for this?” Eavis then went on to explain, “I didn't know the answer. It was a great moment for us though. He enjoyed a taster of playing - U2 are keen to do it. Whether it's next year...or in three years' time."

Fortunately Damon Albarn’s band Gorillaz stepped in for Irish Rockers U2 and closed the Friday night party on the Pyramid Stage.
