The Joy Formidable and Chapel Club have been announced to play a series of UK dates for the Emerge NME Radar Tour 2010. Further special guests are expected to be announced at a later date.
The groups join acts such as La Roux, Marina And The Diamonds and Friendly Fires who have all played the tour on previous years, with this year’s tour starting at Birmingham’s Academy2 on September 27th.
The Joy Formidable are a three-piece outfit hailing from North Wales and currently basing themselves amongst the bright-lights of London. Their sound has been likened to bands such as The Breeders, Arcade Fire and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, described as “primal epic grunge rock”. The band were cited as 2008’s “one to watch” by The Guardian Newspaper.
Joining The Joy Formidable on the Emerge NME Radar Tour will be east London-based five-piece Chapel Club who were initially signed for, what has been described as, “comedy sized sums of cash” after playing three local pub gigs.
Sounding like the mixed-up lovechild of Joy Division and My Bloody Valentine, Chapel Club accompany The Joy Formidable as well as some as-yet unannounced special guests for this year’s extensive NME Tour which takes in fourteen different venues in fourteen different cities through England, Scotland and Wales.
Emerge NME Radar Tour will call at the following venues:
