Flipper are a punk, hardcore and noise rock band from San Francisco. Formed in 1979, they continued erratically until the mid 1990s, then disbanded until 2005. The band influenced a large number of grunge, punk and noise bands — Kurt Cobain even wore a self-made Flipper t-shirt in the booklet pictures of 'In Utero'.
Flipper released three albums in the 1980s and '90s — their debut being'Generic Flipper' in 1982, 'Gone Fishin'' in 1984, and after almost a decade, 'American Grafishy' in 1993. Later, they went on to put out 'Love' in 2009. Flipper will take their 40th anniversary tour around the UK this summer, with the line up featuring founding members Steve DePace, Ted Falconi, David Yow and Mike Watt.
