Lightyear are a British ska punk band from Derby, featuring Chas Palmer-Williams, Neil Draycott, Neil ‘Nelb’ Cowie, Mark Wood (aka. Girlyhips Saville), Ben Ashton, Jim Harrison, Richard ‘Bars’ Barling and Kraig Winterbottom.
Formed in 1997, the band signed to Household Name Records and released their debut album, ‘Call of the Weasel Clan’, in 2001, which was followed by ‘Chris Gentlemens Hairdresser and Railway Bookshop’, in 2003, before the band disbanded. The band reformed in 2006 for a UK tour including an appearance at Reading and Leeds Festival, before again splitting. The band appeared sporadically for more shows from then on but announced they would be officially reforming in 2017. Lightyear are set to play 20th anniversary UK shows in October.
